The sun’s shining, and if you’re anything like me, you just want to get on with it and finish so you can sit and enjoy your garden…maybe with a cuppa or a nice glass of wine (Or is that just me🥂?)
But gardening is a form of exercise and just like any other exercise you should start gently and not “run a marathon” on day one! For many of us spring is the first bit of gardening we’ve done for many months. So warm up first, do a few light jobs, rest often and pace yourself.
Most people can’t kneel for long before their knees complain!
Despite their name, knees aren’t designed for kneeling. If you do need to get down low, use a kneeling pad to cushion the knees or even better a small foldable step-stool to sit on.
If you need to bend a lot, stand up straight every few minutes, and arch backwards to stretch and reverse the action.
Try not to spend more than 15-20 minutes before changing position.
Did you know there’s no such thing as BAD POSTURE? Static postures are the real problem, the body is designed to move and adapt to lots of different positions, so change often, swap tasks and come back to it later…your body will thank you!
